Rosa Cantos, b.1968, is a well known and respected artist who hails from Spain. Her artwork represents her home country. Her paintings often show elegant landscapes rich in flora but this painting is a rare example of a seascape scene. She lets her emotions rule her paintbrush and does not focus on the perfect nature of her subject. She also allows the canvas represent her homeland with many landscapes of the beautiful hillsides of Spain which she has become famous for. This seascape is a rare divergence from her typical landscape works. She has encompassed the rich nature of the Mediterranean and fishing boats in an mystical way with varied brush strokes and an exceptional use of color. The frame is a gold wood with cream accents and the canvas in accented with gold fillets to bring out the highlights of this work.
